During my time as an intern with the SEAD Project, I was in charge with the visual storytelling of their largest annual campaign, Raise Our Roots. This year, the focus was about what kind of future ancestors we would want to be for those who come after this. The theme came with a story about a cast of future ancestors of the Southeast Asian community in the year 5000, going back to their root countries after a catastrophic event led their American homeland to no longer be habitable. The characters each have their own quirks and stories, showcasing what kind of people we, the Southeast Asian community, can be as we continue to flourish in our livelihood and push forward as people of color.
